I have found writing this post quite challenging but I hope it encourages and blesses you and that you find it helpful. 🙂
(I would like to put a trigger warning with this for death and suicide because some of the themes I am talking about here, may be triggers for some people. )
(Please seek support if you need it!!)
This morning’s walk was at the helm in Kendal.
It was beginning to snow as we walked along and it was quite cold. Therefore we didn’t walk far but the sun was shining and the view was very pretty.
Today as I looked across the hills, I was drawn to think about heaven and about how one day we will be there.
We will no longer be walking on this earth but we will be walking in heaven!
Sometimes the thought of being in heaven seems so different from the things we see on earth…
No more tears or pain or suffering, streets of gold etc and seeing God face to face.
It can seem hard for our human minds to comprehend at times.
The thought of death and eternal life conjour up lots of thoughts for me.
Alongside alot of happy and some very sad memories. As I am sure it does for many of you?
Vision:
( I always say to people to weigh up what I say and test it to make sure it lines up with scripture and test if you believe it’s from God as the bible says to do that 🙂 )
When I was a young child, my grandfather who was a church pastor was dying in hospital and we were miles away from him at home. I was in my room and just about to settle to sleep. I had my eyes closed and I saw what I can only describe as a child’s picture of heaven. I saw a big mansion and then I saw a vision of my Grandfather drinking from the spring of the water of life and there were angels and valleys and lots of light.
I heard the words don’t worry your grandfather is here now . He’s safe and he is drinking from the fountain of the spring of the water of life. Now go and tell your parents.
I went and spoke to my parents about it and it gave them and me real comfort at the time.
Another memory I have was of my other grandpa. He was also a christian and a very lovely man. He dedicated his life to his faith and to his family. At the end of his life he said that he had lived his life and He was ready to go and be with God.
When he died I had the verse in my head :
I watched my grandpa live his life doing good things, not so everyone could see it but in a more subtle and descrete way and to bring God glory.
Another good memory I have although very sad. Is when a good friend of ours died. He died young of a rare condition.
We went to his funeral and there was just story after story of how he went the extra mile to encourage others and embrace them no matter what .
He always had a good word to say to people and was the most encouraging person I have ever met despite his illness. His funeral was all about celebrating his life and picturing him dancing in heaven with his saviour.
Another time that was really sad was that we had come alongside a great young lad with mental health issues and he was starting to do an alpha course but unfortunately he couldnt take life any more and he commited suicide. His funeral was very somber and humanistic and there was no mention of the afterlife or any hope. I found this very hard.
There are so many emotions thrown up when thinking about death and eternity but I think it is important to remember the joy that awaits those who are saved, in heaven.
And we never know whether someone has turned to Christ on their deathbed, whether they had faith prior to that or not.
There are countless stories of God revealing himself to people in those last moments.
The guarantee to get into heaven is to :
My belief is that : Heaven is real, Hell is also real but God is love and God knows the heart of every person. We should not try and play God when talking about people’s future eternity!!!
Let’s love people and pray for those we know and love to know God’s goodness both now and in eternity.
Have a good blessed day and remember God is with you and he loves you.
And we have an amazing Eternity to look forward to.
Let’s live our lives for the glory of God and to receive the crown of eternal life.
Let it be said of us….
“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief.”

Let’s spur eachother on to live lives that glorify God so that we can run the race before us with our gaze fixed on God and the beauty of our heavenly home with him.
It is never to late in your life on earth to choose to give your life to God.
What an amazing day that will be! When we see our saviour face to face in heaven!
