Death and Heaven

I have found writing this post quite challenging but I hope it encourages and blesses you and that you find it helpful. 🙂

(I would like to put a trigger warning with this for death and suicide because some of the themes I am talking about here, may be triggers for some people. )

(Please seek support if you need it!!)

This morning’s walk was at the helm in Kendal.

It was beginning to snow as we walked along and it was quite cold. Therefore we didn’t walk far but the sun was shining and the view was very pretty.

Today as I looked across the hills, I was drawn to think about heaven and about how one day we will be there.

We will no longer be walking on this earth but we will be walking in heaven!

Sometimes the thought of being in heaven seems so different from the things we see on earth…

No more tears or pain or suffering, streets of gold etc and seeing God face to face.

It can seem hard for our human minds to comprehend at times.

The thought of death and eternal life conjour up lots of thoughts for me.

Alongside alot of happy and some very sad memories. As I am sure it does for many of you?

Vision:

( I always say to people to weigh up what I say and test it to make sure it lines up with scripture and test if you believe it’s from God as the bible says to do that 🙂 )

When I was a young child, my grandfather who was a church pastor was dying in hospital and we were miles away from him at home. I was in my room and just about to settle to sleep. I had my eyes closed and I saw what I can only describe as a child’s picture of heaven. I saw a big mansion and then I saw a vision of my Grandfather drinking from the spring of the water of life and there were angels and valleys and lots of light.

I heard the words don’t worry your grandfather is here now . He’s safe and he is drinking from the fountain of the spring of the water of life. Now go and tell your parents.

I went and spoke to my parents about it and it gave them and me real comfort at the time.

Another memory I have was of my other grandpa. He was also a christian and a very lovely man. He dedicated his life to his faith and to his family. At the end of his life he said that he had lived his life and He was ready to go and be with God.

When he died I had the verse in my head :

I watched my grandpa live his life doing good things, not so everyone could see it but in a more subtle and descrete way and to bring God glory.

Another good memory I have although very sad. Is when a good friend of ours died. He died young of a rare condition.

We went to his funeral and there was just story after story of how he went the extra mile to encourage others and embrace them no matter what .

He always had a good word to say to people and was the most encouraging person I have ever met despite his illness. His funeral was all about celebrating his life and picturing him dancing in heaven with his saviour.

Another time that was really sad was that we had come alongside a great young lad with mental health issues and he was starting to do an alpha course but unfortunately he couldnt take life any more and he commited suicide. His funeral was very somber and humanistic and there was no mention of the afterlife or any hope. I found this very hard.

There are so many emotions thrown up when thinking about death and eternity but I think it is important to remember the joy that awaits those who are saved, in heaven.

And we never know whether someone has turned to Christ on their deathbed, whether they had faith prior to that or not.

There are countless stories of God revealing himself to people in those last moments.

The guarantee to get into heaven is to :

My belief is that : Heaven is real, Hell is also real but God is love and God knows the heart of every person. We should not try and play God when talking about people’s future eternity!!!

Let’s love people and pray for those we know and love to know God’s goodness both now and in eternity.

Have a good blessed day and remember God is with you and he loves you.

And we have an amazing Eternity to look forward to.

Let’s live our lives for the glory of God and to receive the crown of eternal life.

Let it be said of us….

“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief.”

2 peter 3.

❤️🙏🙂

Let’s spur eachother on to live lives that glorify God so that we can run the race before us with our gaze fixed on God and the beauty of our heavenly home with him.

It is never to late in your life on earth to choose to give your life to God.

What an amazing day that will be! When we see our saviour face to face in heaven!

If anyone has any questions about this . Please feel free to contact me.

I would be happy to chat with you. God bless 🙂

Some Verses About Heaven:

A few verses about heaven to encourage you:

But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Philippians 3:20 NIV

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.

1 Peter 1:3‭-‬5 NIV

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God ; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”

John 14:1‭-‬4 NIV

For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.

Matthew 6:19-20

Revelation 21:

Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children. But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.” One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.” And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God. It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal. It had a great, high wall with twelve gates, and with twelve angels at the gates. On the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel. There were three gates on the east, three on the north, three on the south and three on the west. The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. The angel who talked with me had a measuring rod of gold to measure the city, its gates and its walls. The city was laid out like a square, as long as it was wide. He measured the city with the rod and found it to be 12,000 stadia in length, and as wide and high as it is long. The angel measured the wall using human measurement, and it was 144 cubits thick. The wall was made of jasper, and the city of pure gold, as pure as glass. The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald, the fifth onyx, the sixth ruby, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth turquoise, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst. The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of gold, as pure as transparent glass. I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there. The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it. Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.

Revelation 22:

Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever. The angel said to me, “These words are trustworthy and true. The Lord, the God who inspires the prophets, sent his angel to show his servants the things that must soon take place.” “Look, I am coming soon! Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy written in this scroll.” I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. And when I had heard and seen them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who had been showing them to me. But he said to me, “Don’t do that! I am a fellow servant with you and with your fellow prophets and with all who keep the words of this scroll. Worship God!” Then he told me, “Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this scroll, because the time is near. Let the one who does wrong continue to do wrong; let the vile person continue to be vile; let the one who does right continue to do right; and let the holy person continue to be holy.” “Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. “Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city. Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood. “I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.” The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life. I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to that person the plagues described in this scroll. And if anyone takes words away from this scroll of prophecy, God will take away from that person any share in the tree of life and in the Holy City, which are described in this scroll. He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen.

Thankful For Small Blessings

Grateful for a fresh cup of luxury hot chocolate (has to be made with hot milk!) and a freshly baked choc o pain to start the morning today. Along with a local walk in our beautiful surroundings.

A chance to still my mind before the chaos of the day insues.

My day today consists of helping my daughter with her maths work (rearranging formulas!! Fun!!) . Helping my son with English exam prep and assisting my husband with creating video content for his music composition business. Tidying the house and clothes washing.

This will then be followed by business accounts and preparing for a youth leaders meeting later this week.

Finally my day will end with a food shop and then a chance to chill Infront of the TV.

What do your days consist of at the moment? Let me know in the comments. 🙂

I love to hear peoples stories. It’s good to share life together! 🙂

In these times I am learning to be thankful for the small blessings in life.

Like waking up covid free, managing to get out in the fresh air and enjoying the peace of my surroundings even if only local and for a limited time.

Paul talks in the bible about learning to be content in all circumstances:

This verse always presents a challenge to me.

I have the whole being content thing down, on a good day . When everything is going right and I’m surrounded by friends and family .

Like the time we went to Europa Park in Germany. We were going on rollercoasters, looking at row upon row of Christmas lights and walking round the German Christmas markets. Eating chocolate marshmellows on sticks. Followed by ice skating under the stars and drinking mulled wine at the bar. That was a great day!

A view of part of the park from above on the Giant Ferris wheel!
An Arial view of part of the park from the Giant Ferris wheel

Feeling content in this situation is easy for me.

However on days where things are hard, like when you receive an unexpected bill or a pandemic hits and you wonder how it will effect your life and your income. Your mind starts to wonder (or atleast mine does) towards if only I had more money or if only I had …..

I don’t do that as much as I used to now because over the years I have been learning to trust God more and more.

I have seen that he has bought us through situations before and he will do so again.

I now know that he will provide for all our needs. I have seen him do this countless times, both in our lives and the lives of those around us.

All of this leads me to live in the moment more. To worry less and to feel more content and satisfied in life regardless of what’s going on around me.

I don’t think I have fully cracked this yet but I am alot further along the road towards this than I used to be.

How do you feel about this verse?

Whatever you are doing today. I hope you have a good and blessed day. 🙂

May You Find Peace And Strength Today

He is here! He is for you! He is walking with you. Fix your eyes on Him and may He renew your strength as you wait on Him today.

Be encouraged today. God is with you.

May you find rest and peace and hope in Him today.

This is my prayer for you today …

Today’s thought ..don’t worry – trust!

20140401-094744.jpg

How Awesome is our Lord.
How amazingly Steadfast.
He is always with us
He remains the same.

He always has plans for our good, even when we can’t always see that.
His grace and faithfulness are so amazing

He understands our thoughts.
He leads us beside still waters and His goodness refreshes our souls.

Even when the battle is raging around us, He finds a way to reach in and bring us peace – it’s the peace that is beyond understanding and not as this world gives. It’s a heavenly peace that washes over us in spite of our circumstances.

God lovingly helps us to laugh about things and be joyful even in difficult circumstances. If we listen to Him and trust Him.

We realise that trying to do things in our own strength is tiring and wears us out when we could just speak with God and ask him to show us the perfect plan he already mapped out for our lives.

We are grateful that He can see past all our flaws and wants to work with us despite of our weaknesses.

God knows how to turn our weaknesses, into his opportunities.

Keep your eyes on him and don’t let the things of this world drag you down or steal your joy.

Your saviour is rejoicing over you today. Take courage and live this day to the full as God leads you.

You have all it takes. Get into the roller coaster, hold the bar in front of you tightly and let God take you where He wants you to go to. To serve the people He wants you to serve, in the place He wants you to go. Let go of your life and let God take hold of it. He will take you to places you never knew were possible – good places which He predestined for you to go.

1 Peter 5-7:

Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

Proverbs 3: 5-6:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.
